The Preferences Tab

To access your preferences, click the Preferences Tab in the main GUI. From here you can set up the way Lys performs

Prefix/Suffix settings

Enable Prefix: Checking this option will allow you to globally appended a prefix to each maps file name once saved. You can either edit the name in the input field or use the various dropdowns to choose a preset. For example, If your saved normal map is going to be called example.tga and you choose the T_ prefix, the file will then be renamed to T_example.tga

Suffix: Here you can change the suffix that each map will have appended to its file name once saved. You can either edit the name in the input field or use the various dropdowns to choose a preset. For example, If your saved normal map is going to be called example.tga and you choose the _normal suffix, the file will then be renamed to example_normal.tga

Miscellaneous

Enable Dithering: Here you can enable dithering for either 8bit images only or for all images including 8bit, 16bit and 32bit float. Dithering can improve the look of the images by reducing the apparent effects of banding.

Render Ground Truth Specular using Brute Force Method: Enables ground truth specular convolution by using brute force rendering. This option is more accurate than the default rendering method but takes longer to complete.

Use Legacy DDS Header Encoding: This option enables the exporting of DDS files with the legacy header encoding (DX9) which have been depreciated due to new standards within DX10 and above. Leaving the option unchecked will export DDS files that are compliant with current standards.

Enable Anti-Aliasing in the 2D Preview Window: Enables Anti-Aliasing in the 2D Preview window to give smoother edges. Anti-Aliasing cannot be used in the 2D Preview window when Dilation is on.

Dilate Results: Check this to dilate the results. This can help to stop seams.

Display Update Notifications on Startup: Enables notification of any available updates to Lys.

Enable Tooltips: Checking this option will turn tool tips on/off at a global level.

Save Preferences Configuration

Save Preferences?: Save the changes you have made to the preferences. Apply will apply the changes to the current Knald session only. Save will save the changes you have made and apply them to the current and future sessions of Knald that you run. Cancel will revert any changes that you have made back to the last save that you made
